Live sound reinforcement available for small to medium-large size venues. Equipment: Behringer X32 rack digital mixer, Yamaha DXR10 mains, FBT CLA208Sa subwoofer, compact coaxial wedge monitors, excellent selection of dynamic and condenser mics especially chosen for acoustic performances.
Studio recording and mixing available at Scrub Jay Studio in Olympia, WA: a cozy project studio co-operated with Alex Sturbaum. Fully mobile recording also available for on-site projects; Brian is particularly adept at capturing live performances in unique locations with fantastic results. Recording equipment: Antelope Orion StudioHD 12-channel interface, high quality studio microphones including models from Rode, Austrian Audio, AKG, Lewitt, Ear Trumpet Labs & others, Reaper and ProTools DAW, industry standard editing & effects plugins including Melodyne, VocAlign, Antelope Audio AFX suite, Izotope suite, Waves suite, Valhalla effects, and many others.
Brian made his first recordings in his bedroom in high school, and later when performing on stage he became focused on ways to get the best amplified sound for live performance of acoustic music. Helped by a number of experienced mentors along the way, Brian is now an accomplished engineer and regularly runs live sound for concerts, contra dances, and live events across the northwest. In 2022 he completed the Graduate Certificate in Creative Recording & Editing through Berklee College of Music, honing the unique skills used in modern music production.
Brian has been primary recording and mix engineer on a number of successful albums, including Countercurrent’s album “Exchange“, three albums from Brivele, and the annual “Vashon Sessions” project. He excels at capturing the musicality of performance by helping other musicians feel at ease with recording, and has great experience with site-specific recording projects.
In addition, Brian has shot and edited videos for bands, producing compelling visual performances with excellent audio; some examples can be seen below.
Live Streaming: Brian has produced live-stream concerts with high quality audio and video since the start of the COVID-19 shutdown, and become highly regarded providing technical assistance for live events on Zoom and other platforms.
